Who is Jesus?

Who is Jesus? Why does it matter who He is?
Does this have an impact upon my life?

If you find yourself asking questions like this, then we encourage you to read on.

According to God's Word, we have all sinned (Romans 3:23). The result of sin is death. Sin is anything that we do that is against God. For example, have you ever told a lie? The obvious answer is yes. We all have told a lie at one point in our lives, thus we are sinners. Have you ever looked at someone with lust in your heart? Again, because we can all answer yes to that question, if we are being honest, we then know that we are sinners. Because we are sinners, we are then separated from God. What does it mean to be separated from God? Basically, God is holy, which means he is completely free from sin and cannot be in the presence of sin. Therefore, if we were to die in our sin, we would not be able to spend eternity with God. Because of this, we are in need of salvation. However, the problem is, we can do nothing to save ourselves.

Perhaps you think you are a good person. The truth is, you are not good enough to get into Heaven on your own. You need Someone else to help you. Also, there is no amount of good works that you can do to earn salvation. How then can we be saved? Is there hope if we can do nothing ourselves? Absolutely!

We need someone to make payment for our sins. And since we are sinners, we are unable to do so ourselves. Thus we are in need of someone who is sinless. This is where Jesus comes in.  Jesus is the Son of God. He came to earth and was born of the virgin Mary. Because He was not conceived by man, He was not born with a sin nature like all of us. Throughout His life He taught about the Kingdom of God and did many miracles to testify to who He is. He lived a sinless life. And because of that He was able to pay for our sins. In order to pay for our sins though, there must be the shedding of blood. In other words, this perfect Jesus, had to die in our place. We deserve death and separation from God because of our sin, but Jesus stepped in to save us. He was nailed to a cross and died for the sins of the whole world. And to further show that He is in fact the Son of God, three days later, by the power of God, He was resurrected. How can we be saved then? We must acknowledge that we are sinners, we must repent of (turn away from) our sin, and we must trust in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection to save us from our sins. When we do so, He saves us and we start a relationship with Him.

If you decide that you do not want to trust Jesus, the Bible tells us that you will spend eternity separated from Him in Hell. Please do not put this decision off. Your soul depends on it.
